OBD1 Diagnostic Trouble Codes
We have assembled generation OBD1 computer diagnostic trouble code and retrieval methods for car manufactured between the years of 1986 and 1995. This generation one system is much like its predecessor ODB11 in that the OBD1 system will flash trouble codes used for troubleshooting car electrical and engine problems. These codes are used to identify the system wherein the malfunction exists. After the specific repair has been performed simply remove the negative battery cable to clear the code in the computer's memory. If a problem still exists, sometimes it will not be apparent until the car has been driven at least 30 miles. This duration is necessary for the computer to "relearn" the condition of the operation system. If a problem still is present the check engine light will re-illuminate. All OBD1 codes are manufacturer specific.
