I have the car listed above that was made in Japan. It was running pretty solid except for some problems with the gas pump and gas pressure regulator. After fixing that the car was running nicely until all of a sudden it wouldn't take reverse. The car does move backwards when put in R but when I try to accelerate it won't move as if it was on neutral. Any tips as to what might be wrong?

The first thing I would do is check the transmission fluid and service it if the fluid is burnt. Next, I would run the codes these guides should help:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-and-add-transmission-fluid

and

Please go over these guides and get back to us.

Hi, it's been a couple of months since I posted this question but I just got back to the project and I am making my way through changing the ATF, I was just now putting back the transmission oil pan and I can't find the torque specifications for the bolts. Is there any good source for these specs that you would recommend? Also, I got a code reader to check the codes and will do that next.

Ps. I am teaching myself about mechanics so my bad if the terminology or something seems odd. Thank you!

No problem we are glad to help, the transmission pan torque specs are typically around 5 to 7 ft-lbs (7 to 10 Nm). However, these values can vary slightly depending on the specific model and transmission type. It's important to note that the torque should be applied evenly in a crisscross pattern to ensure a proper seal and to avoid warping the pan.

Thank you so much for the help. I already tightened the bolts to the specified torque. I started putting in the ATF, my car takes around 3 liters, but the tip of the dip stick (around an inch and a half of it) snapped inside the hole. I haven't been able to take it out as none of two magnets I have fit down the hole. Is it a big problem? Should I wait until I am able to pick it out before putting it in gear?

Yes, I would fix the dipstick before operating the transmission so as not to run it low or over filled.
