Drive Train Axles Bearings problem
1998 Volvo XC70 All Wheel Drive Automatic 150000 miles

Drive shaft was bent and coupling sounded like bad brakes when backing up. It was replaced, rechecked, and still I have a wobble when accelerating from 35-45mph. The more torque the worst it is. Mechanic said he disconnected the drive shaft and drove with just front wheel drive and problem still existed.

He still has the car.

Any ideas?

Have the axles in the front checked. Usually when they go bad you will feel a vibration when accelerating only.

When the driveshaft was replaced, both cv joints (I believe is the term) were also replaced, one was worn out, and the other was close so all 3 axles were done at the same time. Upon me feeling the wobble and returning the car, all 3 axles were removed, spec'ed and replaced. Wobble still exists. With no change.
I say wobble, because this is not a vibration alike wheels being out of balance; this is almost a rocking of the car when under torque at 35-45mph. If someone stood on the rear bumper and rocked the car while the car was accelerating, that's the feel.

How did you bend the driveshaft to begin with? Now when you say driveshaft do you mean the centershaft from the bevel gear to the rear end? Also you say all 3 were replaced? So you mean the center shaft and the 2 front axles or the rear axles? Check the rear axles as well and also have them check the rear end. If the shop is not familiar with rear ends then you should look for a shop that specializes in 4 wheel only.
