About how long would it take a mechanic to swap a transmission on my car? Originally he said it would be ready 1-2 days after he gets the transmission. He's had my car and the transmission for 2 weeks now. I know mechanics can get busy so I'm considering that. Late last Friday he said my car was the next to go up on the lift so the area was just cleaned out. Tuesday all he said was that it was up on the lift and they're working on it and most definitely will be done the next day (Wednesday). Here it is Thursday afternoon and still nothing. I just want to make sure the mechanic isn't BSing me.

Good afternoon.

The transmission pays 9 hours to change. That includes removing the old one and installing the replacement transmission.

Thank you for your response. Well hopefully, I'll be getting it back today. Before I got this transmission my car was sitting for about 6 months. I asked him to also give it an oil change. The last time my son gave it a tune-up was around May 2018 and I didn't really drive the car a lot. Do you think I should give it a tune-up being that it's been sitting for several months or it may just be a waste of money?

I would wait on that and see how it runs when you get it back.
