I LIVE IN PITTSBURGH AND JUST RECENTLY WE HAD A PRETTY BIG SNOW STORM RECENTLY, BUT AFTER THE SNOW STORM I NOTICED THAT MY TRANSMISSION ONCE ON WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK UNLESS I APPLY THE BRAKE PRESS THE T-HANDLE SHIFTER AND SHAKE IT(NOT VIOLENTLY, BUT FORCEFULLY) AND THEN SUDDENLY IT WILL SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND RIDES SMOOTH AFTER IM ON MY WAY( I DO NOTICE A BIG SURGE WHEN 1ST GEAR SHIFTS INTO 2ND, WHILE THE ENGINE IS COLD. ALSO AT THE SAME TIME MY HORN STOPPED WORKING ALLTOGETHER(REPLACED HORN RELAY BUT HORN STILL DONT WORK. CAN BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS BE RELATED AND IF NOT CAN YOU HELP RESOLVE THESE ISSUES?
THNAK YOU

Hi E.BEL1983,

The interlock system is not working correctly and preventing the shift lever to be moved out of Park.

With ignition turned to ON, depress the brake pedal and listen for a click under shift lever. If noise is heard and you are not able to shift out of Park, the interlock solenoid is not moving far enough to release the shift lever lock.

If no noise is heard, check the brake lights. If they do not come on, check the brake switch and fuse.

The horn is not related to the above. Check the fuse and if you have the SRS ( if equipped ) indicator showing, the cable reel under the steering wheel is bad.
