Replaced bushing on transmission linkage at transmission. Shiftier would not come out of park at first. Finally got it out of park but cable does not move when moving shiftier.

Good afternoon.

It sounds like the cable from the shifter has failed. It may be broken inside the casing.

Roy

1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Power-train Management.
2. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.

3. Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the cable lever.
4. Use pliers in order to depress the cable retainers.
5. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket.
6. Remove the knee bolster.

Replaced bushings both ends now working fine in that area. Now have new problem. When trying to crank with ignition switch will not turn over. Jump starter, will crank but idles fast and transmission does not shift until very high engine rpm.

It sounds like you need to adjust the neutral safety switch which is right under where the cable mounts on the transmission.

Roy

Tools Required
- J 41545 Park/Neutral Switch Alignment Tool

If a new PNP switch has been rotated and the pin is broken or if you are installing an old PNP switch, adjust the PNP switch.
1. Place the shift selector shaft into Neutral.
2. Use the J 41545 in order to align the slots of the PNP switch to the Neutral position.
3. Align the flats of the shift shaft to the flats in the PNP switch.
4. Install the PNP switch to the transaxle.

Important: If the PNP switch bolt holes do not align with the threaded holes in the transaxle, verify that the shaft is in the Neutral position.

5. Assemble the PNP switch bolts loosely.
