Sometime my wife's 2000 Montana will take a spell and start jerking between shifting gears. You stop the car and wait a minute or two start it back up and it will shift just fine. My mechanic has called around and no one seems to have heard of the problem. NOW my 1999 Montana 137,000 has started doing the same thing. There has to be some one other than just my 2 doing it, huh? Any help? Please?

Steve,
Has the check engine light come on? Has the trans been serviced with a new filter reciently? It could be a shift solenoid, but I can't be sure without a code from the computer.

I have had both Montana transmissions serviced with all new filters and shift solenoid checked too. I have taken it to my mechanic when it is shiftting hard and even taken it for a drive while hooked up to the computer and there is NO code that appears. I wouldn't think much about it BUT both of my Montana's do it sometimes. I surely don't have the only two in existence with this problem, do I? My mechanic is stumped and everyone he calls seems to be also. Especially the part that when it does it you stop and shut the engine off for a few minutes and when you restart and take off it shifts just fine? Thanks anyway for your reply, BIG STEVE in Indiana

Mine started shifiting hard after a few miles. Sometimes 10, sometimes 50. Changed the filter and added Trans X. Still does it.
