Transmission problem
2000 Pontiac Montana 6 cyl Automatic 154, 00 miles

My transmission is making a whinding noise and sometimes a clunk as it gets into gears. This does not happen all the time but at least 3 times that I know of. What is causing this or is it to late and I need a new transmission?

Check your transmission fluid level ( this is the dip stick in the back right of the engine compartment. Check it AFTER the engine has reached operating temperature. Check it with the engine idling in Park. Also you might consider a full transmission flush and filter change. This is normally reccomended every 50K miles. After all this your transmission pump could be going out. These trannies are not known to be the best. May want to trade her off.
