Toyota corolla 1998, 1.8 ltr engine.
The Engine seems to skip a beat. It happens at all speeds. When this happens, I have tried to accelerate and the engine picks up immediately. If I don't accelerate, the engine picks up by itself but take a little longer. The spark plugs and wires are ok. No fault codes registered. Could it be the fuel filter or fuel pump? Where is the filter located? It does not matter if the engine is hot or cold.

Yes, this could very well be any of the following:dirty fuel injectors, failing fuel pump, dirty fuel filter, could also be:arcing ignition/spark plug wire, dirty ijectors can also foul spark plugs resulting in additional performance issues

If engine is dying, it means ALL cylinder are shutting off momentarily. Very unlikely that ALL Spark plug or wire or fuel injectors will fail together at same time. Could be fuel pump pump dying for some reason maybe electrical. If you hook up a gauge to fuel rail with long hose and watch while driving, might help.
