My brother in law recently purchased a used Camry. We managed to get the car to run briefly (10 seconds or less) twice, otherwise it won't start. It has fire to the plugs. We removed a fuel line from inside the engine compartment and with the key turned "on" no fuel comes out. Is this a fuel pump problem, or just not enough gas in the tank? We can blow air back into the tank, but only get air back out, no gas.

Hi there,

The fuel pump should "cycle "for a few seconds with the ignition turned on. This is to pressurize the fuel rail. The pump wont start until the engine is running as it gets it signal from the alternator. Just check that it is humming for a few sec when you first turn on, and make sure that you have enough petrol in the tank.
