First of all thank you so much for your donation. Is the shifter feel tight or is it all sloppy? Also on the transmission I want you to make sure that the cables still have the H shaped clip's holding it on the transmission. Also that the smaller clip's are holding the cable end's in place on the transmission. Now pop out the cup holder buy the cig lighter and look under the shifter and make sure the cable's are both connected to the bottom of the shifter. Also when you posted the 1991 SL1 is this same car you are referring to?If I know that then I can delete the 1991 SL1 question so the other moderator's don't get confused.

If the cables are good and attached and the shifter is tight and not broken then it's looking more like you have some transmission problem. That's all that is left when you take the other stuff away. So make sure all that stuff is good because you want to make sure before you start looking at the transmission.
