Saab RPMs go up but speed doesnt

I have a 1986 saab 900 2.0L with about 180,000 miles when i am accelerating i push the gas and the RPM's go up normally but my speed barely goes up

Update!

i got it ckecked out and they said it would cost about 650 2 replace and considering i only paid 600 for the car i dont think its worth replacing so how long do you think my car will be drivable with out it getting replaced...

Sounds like the clutch or clutches are failing.

when u are dragging u clutch it will not go far....check the condition of the engine and suspension parts,,if transmission is the only problem (at that age its normal) and everything else are taken good care of i'd do the transmission and trive that car....saab 180000 mils for a saab is nothing...IF taken good care of...
