My car needs a new transmission and I have no idea what type of transmission to purchase. The options in my price range for a rebuilt transmission are the hybrid transmissions. How do I know if my vehicle has a hybrid transmission or not? Does the VIN number tell that info or is it on the vehicle?

Couple things. First can you get the part number of the transmission that you are looking at? It should be on the listing somewhere or just send the link of the website.

The reason is a lot of people use the word "hybrid" pretty liberally. The proper use of the term is for the hybrid engine vehicle. So if you vehicle is not a hybrid vehicle then that transmission is not correct. Many people that are selling different components will just put that on the listing not knowing exactly what it is.

Lastly, the best way to know what transmission your vehicle has is to call the dealer and ask they run the VIN to tell you how it is equipped. It appears your transmission is a CVT transmission but we need to ensure that by having the dealer give you the part number per the VIN. I attached the options so you can confirm this. Thanks

Thanks for the information. That was very helpful. The parts departments at local dealerships are closed today, so I can call tomorrow. I know my car is not a hybrid for sure.

Here's the link to a few sites I was searching. https://www.lkqonline.com/2008-Nissan-Altima-Transmission-or-Transaxle-Assembly/-l2
