Engine stalling

V8 front wheel drive automatic.

My car has recently developed a problem with stalling while driving. The engine just shuts off and no matter how much I press the gas, it will not respond, almost as if the ignition was shut off. The battery light on the dash comes on, as if the car is in accessory mode. I have only seen it do it at or above operating temperature (200 degrees). What could be the problem?

The pump was the problem for my car I got a new one from Amazon for $156.00 and installed it the car works great. thanks for the guide.
