2001 Oldsmobile Alero engine is making a knocking noise
My 2001 Alero began making a knocking sound a few weeks ago. It has been due an oil change and was low a quart and a half. After having my vehicle serviced the knocking sound still persists. I'm wondering what the problem is and how serious it is. It is not smoking and I can't smell any oil burning or see any leaking. I have not driven my vehicle since.

could of did some damage to the bearings or a rod or something , this is why it is very important to keep oil in your vehicle, this could more than likely have been avoided, but me harping on it isnt gonna solve anything. the only thing you can do is have it diagnosed, it could be piston slap or a plethera of other things, but they will have to do some tests and get the stethascope out
