2001 Oldsmobile Alero whistling noise when accelerating
Noises problem
2001 Oldsmobile Alero 6 cyl Automatic
When accelerating car starts to whisle. Seems to hav gotten louder since a month ago. Talk to merhanics and all said something different. I changed the belt. the tentioner, erg pipe and had the alternater tested, still made noise. So went to the dealer to have it tested they said a pipe but it's still making the same noise, this is very annoying and not sure but this problems seems to be effecting the car speed performace and gas mileage. Any suggestions Went on different web site and many seems to be having the same whisling noise but no real answer to what it might be. Can't keep affording these guessing games.

sounds like a vacume leak. with the car running lift the hood and see if you can hear it and try to find the area its coming from. check the hoses in that area make sure they are on tight and not cracked or split anywhere.(shut the car off before pulling any hoses off) hope it helps
