Brake light

my brake light came on so I took it too the repair shop they said it may just be a short on the system. Now when I want to get my car out of park it wont to it even if I have my foot on the brake, I end up having to do it manually. I also just noticed that my car isn't accelerating as well since the brake light has come on. What could be wrong?

There are a number of things that this could be, but the most likely cause is the brake light switch has failed or the fuse for the brakes lights has blown.

So, let's run through a way on how to test that.

First, I am attaching the wiring diagram below so you can check for voltage at the switch.

If you have no voltage, then you most likely have an issue with the fuse so use this guide to test and replace the fuse:

You will find the layout of the fuses below as well. This is the 20A fuse for the tail lamps.
