Was driving the car today stopped to get gas and I noticed oil on the ground and by the time it was over all the oil had drained out. Checked the drain plug it is fine. Eight months ago the piston and rings were replaced due to excessive consumption. It is hard to see where it is coming from because of the excessive blowing of the oil. Any ideas?

Was down and run the engine only after the engine and oil is cool. This will thicken the oil a little to slow down the leak, run for a short time, do not drive and stop the engine and inspect for signs of a leak. If it is bad it will not take long to show up any leak, running the engine for to long will only hinder finding the source. You just want to see a little oil flowing to be able to see where it is coming from. Try this and post back your findings for further advice.

Purchase a can or two of engine degreaser and completely soak down that engine with that stuff and let it sit there for twenty minutes or so, then wash it all off. Top off the motor oil, then do not even start the engine. Look for the leak, cause with it loosing all the oil that fast, it must be leaking from the oil pan or the gasket or something screwed into the oil pan like a oil level sensor.
If an oil filter change was just recently done, make sure there are not two o-rings on the oil filter. That can happen sometimes when the old o-ring sticks to the block and someone does not notice that then installs a new oil filter with a new o-ring, then you have two and it will leak.
