I recently had my alternator brush and belt replaced. My car was running fine; no issues lag or starting problems. I went to the store went to get back into my car and it won’t start. The wheel is locked, the lights on the dashboard and radio as well as the air come on. The engine will not turn over even with a jump though. There is an error code that comes up saying fault running gear workshop. What could this be?

Good morning,

What is the code number that you see? That will lead me in a direction of the failure.

Can you check the battery voltage with a volt meter? We need to be sure there is sufficient voltage for it to start the car.

I haven’t been able to hook it to a code reader it’s just on the onboard the battery volts are ranging between 12/14 volts.

Did you use a voltmeter for the battery test? Was that with it running?

Okay, then the next step is to have the code checked. You can go to a parts store and they will check it for free.

Okay, you indicated you checked the voltage with the engine running? Please clarify? How did you check it?

Can you tell me the exact battery voltage at this point?
