Hi ccball,
I'm having exactly the same power loss/surge problem with my 2006 V8 Touareg, with 91,000kms. Did you find a fix?

the dealer may have update flashes. they hook the scan tool up and insert the disc. if it has an update option it is needed. it may or may not be a recall, they should check for them before anything else. sometimes the software issues don't show up immediately, i seem to recall purge valve intermittant malfunction. take it to the dealer. i will look into that....
