1995 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual

ok so here it is, I was in the del taco drive through and I felt a kind of bump, almost like a misfire but not, when I went to pull up it shut off. The next day I got a fuel pressure tester and it showed when I turned the key it was at 45 psi then slowly started to drop to about 10 or 15. I installed a new fuel pump and it still wont start. I pulled the plugs and they are black soot colored. Now im thinking its the fuel pressure regulator. Battery is fully charged and it turn over a ton but it just wont fiire. Any ideas?

Have you checked the fuel pump pressure regulator? Here is a how to for checking both fuel pressure and the regulator. Check it and let me know what you find. Also, make sure you are getting spark. Also, let me know if the plugs are wet with gas.

95 Sentra Won't Start- batt. Terminals are clean, jumping the car off didn't work - no clicking during the start. Potential problem?

Hi Moore,

Should be starter and cranking circuit.

Pull starter solenoid wire out and get some one to crank the engine whaile you test the wire for power supply. If there is, apply direct battery current to starter solenoid to see if it works.

If no, tap the starter motor with a hammer and test again, if it works or tries to or won't work, the starter is bad. Hope the battery cable is ok. Check cable is broken.

Engine Mechanical problem
1995 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have a 95 nissan sentra gle and one day the car was running fine then the next day it would not start so I check everything fuel, spark, etc but nothing was wrong so I then checked the compreesion which was at zero so I went and bought another engine and installed it but now im at the same problem but of course this one has very good compression in the cyclinders the fuel line and good spark, good plugs good wires new air filter oil changed with premium 5w 30 so I dont know what to do.

Ok I have a update I started playing with the fuses for my fuel pump and I noticed that when I took the fuel pump fuse out the car would actually start but then shut off shortly after then I would put it back in and try to start the car but it wouldnt start so I kept pulling it out and it would start then putting it in and it wouldnt after about 15 times of doing this finally the car started with the fuse in and it stayed on and I can turn it off and back on without any problems now but my concern now is the engine I put in has a light tap/knock every now and then and when the engine is raised to approx 4000 rpm it sounds like a rattle noise and I wanted to know what could that be and also it is idleing kinda high around 1600/1700 rpm or so I know I had to put the throttle body off my old engine on the new one since the new one came from a manual and mine is a automatic it didnt have that extra point to attach the cable from the transmission.

Ok another update I fixed everything that I was concerned about but now I have another problem the car dont really want to go into gear I have to rev it up to approx. 4000 rpm before it moves but it only moves for a second then it stops I know its low on fluid almost all of the fluid came out when I replced the engine and I added two quarts of it but how much does the sentra suppose to have? And could that be the reason for it not wanting to go in to gear and move.

Hello OURCHILD09

Thank you for choosing 2caqrpros. Com

For an automatic transmission to function normally, the fluid level must be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick. If the fluid level is low, the transmission may slip or engage slowly. If the level is too high, the fluid can become mixed with air (aerated) causing shifting problems, slippage and noise.

-Nissan J-Matic is special formula for Nissan transmissions.
There are a number of aftermarket synthetic ATF fluids that claim to meet numerous OEM requirements. Refer to the product label for approved applications

-7.4 Quarts is total refill (includes torque converter)

-Check the level when the transmission is hot. On most vehicles this is done with the engine idling and the transmission in Park. Moving the gear selector thorough each gear position prior to checking the level will help assure an accurate reading.

Hope this information help.

When the last time this Nismo had a major tune-up? This problem can be an ignition or fuel system problem. Its starts good-it tells me that the engine is healthy
