2004 Nissan Maxima heater blows cold air
2004 maxima. When the heater is on, it blows hot air as long as the rpm's stay above 1500. But if they fall below 1500 (i.e. during idle while at a stoplight), the heater blows cold air. I know this is not a thermostat, as the auto climate control doesn't turn on until the car is warm, and as long as the rpm's stay high, the heat is fine. What's the deal?

Better go ahead and check the thermostat and for a partial clogged-up heater core. How's the coolant level?
