Electrical problem
1994 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

i have oil leaking from the distribitor which has an o ring application for bolt up to the head. I removed the distribitor and cap and saw that the oil has lubricated the inside of the distribitor button due to the o rings being worn, my question is or the advise im looking for is. Can I replace the 2 rings along with the button and remove the 3 screws that hold the button axis and maybe spray degreaser and make sure it is free of any oil. Would new o rings, button, cap, wires and plugs be affected enough to not have to spend the 400.00 for a new distribitor. Thank you for your input and advice. If it does work ill let you know! Thanks.

The seal INSIDE the distributor has failed.

The distributor has to be disassembled to replace it.
I spend days looking for a seal of the correct size and could not find one.

Right next to the seal is a standard sized bearing.
I took a chance and used a bearing with built in rubber seals on both sides of it.

It's work for about 3 years so far. The owner has continued to bring his other cars to me. But he's never brought the Altima back for that problem.

There are no book telling you how to take it apart.

I would only recommend it to someone that is VERY mechanically inclined.
