Oil Leak

I have a 4 cylinder 97 Nissan Altima that has 182,000 miles on it.

The other day, I noticed a little oil on the pavement. I turned the car on today, and the engine sounded really rough. I checked the dip stick and there was virtually no oil in the car. I drove it last night, and I didn't notice the sound. I know that I put 2 quarts in about a month ago. This is the first time that I have seen any oil leaks.

Have I caused any serious damage?

My hubby is deployed in Iraq, so I am left by myself to take care of not only the car but the kids too. I also noticed that the oil was very dark --I know that means I need an oil change. I would appreciate any help you could give me

you have a major oil leak. do not drive your car without oil, driving without oil will definitely damage the whole engine.
Please, take your car to a mechanic to take care of the problem.
oil change won't help until you repair the leak by a mechanic.
