New fuel pump and sending unit installed but the pump is still not turning on with the turn of ignition switch and have looked and looked in all the places where it has said to be but still not have found it and only have found fuel pump fuse which is good! But I did find a relay that is labeled anti-theft/h lamp which apparently is bad cause went to pull it out to check it and it has apparently got hot enough to melt itself to the plug in ! Could this also be the fuel pump relay or the cause of the new fuel pump not working the way it should in the vehicle listed above and started after running out of gas and after putting fuel in the pump was not turning on. So, I thought it was bad, but I am now thinking that it was not the issue. Fixing the vehicle for a friend and fuel pump and sending unit is new and just put in along with a bad starter and bad battery thought for sure had it figured out and still have to replace this anti-theft/ h lamp relay that is no doubt bad please any info would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

If you haven't done this already, check to make sure fuse 1 in the fuse box at the left side of the dash is good and has power to and from it. Here is a link that explains how it's done. Also, I attached the wiring schematic below, so you have a reference.

If that is good, locate the starter relay (left side of the dash) is good as well. If there is a different relay having the same part number, switch them to see if that makes a difference,

If there isn't one, here is a link that explains how to check the relay:

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

Well, I got the pump working and have spark and now it turns over and get a little poof out of intake and kickback on the motor as it is turning over which stops it completely and then try again and does same thing line it jumped time which ran fine before it was ran out of gas and now just can't seem to get it running again which has me confused that running it out of gas would cause it not to run once put gas into it never had any problem like this before.

Hi,

It does sound like a timing issue. By chance, did you remove the spark plugs and possibly mix up the plug wires?

If possible, record what it is doing and upload it for me to hear. Like you, I feel that running out of fuel wouldn't cause this issue.

Let me know.

Joe
