Just started doing it a couple of days ago. It just goes crazy and jumps by itself constantly. Sometimes im doing 30-40 and it jumps to 120mhp.

What might be the issue? I was checking speed sensors for accents but seems to be a component for auto transmissions since it is what regulates the changing the speeds. (Correct?)

In my case what can it be? Where can I find it on the car and what to do? Replace it?

Thanks y'all

On this vehicle, the speed sensor is located in the speedometer assembly and uses reed switch to sense speedometer gear revolutions based on gear revolutions from the transaxle.

Your VSS is located behind the cluster. See the image attached.

Thanks Jacobandnickolas! You cannot imagine how happy I am with your answer! I went to the scrap yeard and there are so many hyundai accent with very low milage of the same year range. Do you thing that me getting a new speed dashboard would make it all good? I could get it for like 20$. And when you mean the ''REED'' switch did you mean red?

P.S. I apologize in advance if my english grammar is poor. I am from Montreal, Canada and english is not my first language.

Thanks bud

Actually, your English is much better than most of the people here in the US. As far as your question, there is a REED switch. Do you want to replace the entire cluster? To the best of my knowledge, you should be able to just replace the VSS.

Let me know.

Joe

Wassup Joe! Ok I will probably just change the VSS. If i'm not mistaken it is behind the speedometer, right?

Based on this photo I don't understand if the speedometer itself is the VSS or it is behind it.

If at the scrap yard the VSS is like 10$ and the whole dash is 20$ wouldn't just buying the whole thing be more economical?

What do you think?

Thanks Joe!

My manual is saying it is located behind the inst cluster. I would check the one they have to see if it is easily removed. If it is, I would only replace it. The reason I say this is because you don't know what condition the rest of the cluster is in.
