The Eclipse uses 3 to 4 qts of motor oil a month and I am unable to locate the source for the leakage. There is no oil in the coolant and the valve cover gasket and rear main seal appear good. The engine is not blowing oil from the exhaust either. There is considerable oil spray along the undercarriage of the car leaving only small specks of oil on the driveway.

Where is this volume of oil leaking from?

Well you did confirm that there is a small oil leak. I would clean the engine, fix the leak, and, go from there. I do have 4 eclipses myself & sometimes after 100k oil consumption starts to generally increase due to mits valve stem seals. Sometimes this occurs long before the smoking. It's been my experience anyways. Do you have a burnt rubbery smell from exhaust. Please let us know. & Thanks for the post
