Transmission problem
1995 Mercury Sable Automatic

i have a mercury sable 1995 the radiater was leaking through one of the lines and it was leaking water to the transmission.and i changed the radiater and the transmission fuel so i would like to know why the water was leaking to the transmission and the radiater had transmission fuel i would like to know why ?

Because the transmission is connected to the radiator by two lines. Inside the radiator, there's a 'parallele' circuit (cooler) that runs transmission fluid thru it in order to cool down the transmission fluid and keep the transmission within acceptable running temperature. If the cooler is leaking, you'll find coolant in the transmission and ATF inside the radiator.

i changed the radiater and transmission filter and had problems replacing the transmission filter and now there's a light on my dash and it says abs and now the transmission is not running good maybe something is wrong .i would like to know if by me changing the transmission filter and radiater could have cause more problems?

Hello,

If you had trouble replacing the filter and you now are having tranny problems then most likely the filter is not in correctly cause air to be sucked into the system.

The ABS Light, you may have just knock a wire or 2 loose. Check all connections under the hood were you were working on the Radiator.
