I just purchased a 1994 Mercedes with 30,000 miles on it. It is in mint conditions i got it from an old lady who drove it to church on Sundays...No kidding. Over the course of the time she owned the car she had it maintainted to the "T". I actaully had a batterey problem with it and the automotive technician said he new that car, he gave me all the records and sjhe had spend $600.00 over 14 years in maintenance.

Now that I have it as i drive down the road or come to a stop the engine will stall. If I turn the car off for about 15 seconds it will start back up without hesiitation. This happens mabye 1 2 times a week or mabye not at all for a couple weeks.

Since these cars are so expensive to have repaired I was wondering, does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing this. Please Help!![img:f10ef3f85d]http://www.2carpros.com/forum/automotive_pictures/129300_DSCF0038_1.jpg[/img:f10ef3f85d]

First, I have a 1994 and this looks like a pre-1994. The headlights on the 1994 & 1995 are different then the previous W124 class cars.

Assuming wires, plugs, fuel filter is in good shape its possibly the OVP (over voltage protection relay). This is a common "thing" between 30-40K miles and a easy do-it-yourself repair. I think the part was about $75.00. It is located behind the battery. Apparently there were problems with solder joints in the original ones. When the solder fails, the car starts to act up. Some people have reported that the bad connections can be resoldered, but the part isn't that expensive, so I simply replaced mine.

Good luck
