I have replaced the pcv valve. But now when I turn my ax on it acts like it wants to die. Any idea of what this could be? I was thinkin maybe fuel filter?

Do you have a check engine light?

Check the fuel pressure with a gauge if its within specs if okay-check the idle air control valve, EGR valve and throttle position sensor-

I have a Kia Rio that is about 7 yrs and recently started giving engine problems since the chk oil light came on even when the oil was good.... i changed the oil unit and after 2 days the light came off but since the light came on the car started cutting off sometimes even while driving. I had the throttle body serviced twice and the units on it and at the back replaced. It started to perform better but sometimes while driving or idling the engine sounds like its going to cut off... like something does not turn over as it should. I am wondering if sometimes the engine is being starved off fuel..... cause once im slowing down/turning a corner it starts to sputter and sometimes it cuts off or it sounds like its going to but then the engine gets powerful again. There are also times when the car cuts off without warning while driving slowly. Please help!!!

The first thing I would check (if the check engine light isn't on) is fuel pump pressure. Have you done that?

my engine stops a times and the engine also shakes which makes the engine oil light to blink.i have already changed the coil, some of the plugs and plug cable, still the problem is persisting. i was told that there is power leakage and that is why i changed the coils.

Try removing the intake snorkle and cleaning the throttle body using carb/throttle body cleaner. Aslo check your vacuum lines for a leak (cracked or disconnected)

Check the flasher unit in the interior fuse box. It will make a clicking sound when the turn signal lights (travigator light) are on.

What country says "travigator lights"? We use turn signal lights. [took me a while to figure out what you meant]
I appreciate you using this sight and really enjoy learning the "language" of our various customers. Thanks

The car was stalling out everly time i stopped at a light or stop sign.

Changed both oxgen sensors on the carborator.

New spark plugs and wires.

1 uf335 coil.

Added fuel Additive

Throttle cleaner

Replaced Canshaft senor

Replaced fuel filter

Replaced fuel valve

Car is not stalling at stops now

The Check Engine Lite is still on
all the time.

It only takes me ....30 minutes to
get from my house to work.

If I drive the 30 minutes to work
with out stopping.....the car really
acts up.

If I stop after 20 minututes and shut
the car off start the car again

the car does not cut out.

What is the problem

Have you had the PCM/ECU read and if so what faults is it coming up with ... if not .. have read .. note down fault codes .. clear codes .. test drive the vehicle .. see how runs .. and what faults if any re-occur ...

Just purchased a new battery and alternator. Used the car once , and it shut down. Took the alternator back for a new one, also the battery. Drove the car today. When I got home the car would not start.

For the last 2 years our Kia Rio has had a mysterious intermittent stalling problem which has over time grown worse and is now almost always happening. We have taken it to mechanics and either the problem has not been present during their inspection, or even when present, they just can't seem to find the solution! Worrying!

To describe the engine performance when the car is 'playing up': Once the engine is started you can hear the revs are not uniform. The idle revs can increase and decrease (to the point of stalling) without using the accelerator. As we drive, the engine sounds fragile and will 'chug' at times. The car will often stall when we come to a stop and sometimes as we are slowing down - yes, dangerous in traffic! When driving at higher speeds andthe clutch is engaged the revs will plummet rapidly to near 0. The engine seems to perform a little worse when cold. We can often detect a strong sulphur like smell emmitting from the car when it is performing poorly.

The car has been driven well and regularly serviced since we purchased the car new 6 years ago (no longer in warranty). Recently the battery has been inspected/cleaned, tried a new air filter (sections had been charred?), cleaning of the throttle body, and computer check indicating no defect & reseting the idle. The mechanics last resort was to replace the IAC valve but with no effect. We have also tried commercial petrol tank cleaning fluids that you add in with fuel (unleaded) to no avail.

We are at wits end with this car but couldn't dream of selling it in it's current state either! Help!

I would have them check the fuel pressure to make sure it is within spec. Also check the exhaust backpressure to rule out a clogged CAT.
I would also have the mechanic hook up a portable scan tool to the car and drive it several miles to try and isolate the problem. They should be able to record live data and anaylize it for sensors out of range.

My kia rio has a stalling problem that has been going on for 3 years. It has been to a mechanic multiple times and fixed for different things but never has fixed the stalling problem. When I slow down for a red light, stop sign or turning my car stalls sometimes. It's not every single time and it always starts right back up. Is there something that can be be adjusted on the idle or throttle sensor? I have had fuel pumps, fuel filters, and other things that I don't know the names off hand done to it and it never fixes the problem. The last mechanic told me that it was the transmission, however the car runs great and only stalls when slowing down to stop and waiting at red lights or when it's in idle. Pleas help me.

It sounds like an idle air control motor. Has the check engine light come on?

I just replaced my alternator amd belts this past summer was having no problems and now when I have the heat running sometimes my enguine squeaks. Mostly when the defrost is on. It aslo will happen if I have the lights, radio, and heat or defrost on. My lights dim when the squealing starts and sometimes my radio shuts off then back on. To stop the squealing I have to turn heat off and accelerate and it stops but as soon as i hit the breaks it starts again if I dont turn my heat off before i stop. It squeals when started sometimes too. Scince i replaced the belts and alternator would it be a new battery I need?
