My car started up this morning, I idled it for about 10 minutes then drove 2 blocks. It started petering out and the engine died at the the second block. I replaced the battery yesterday. After pushing it home I tried the engine again and it started on the first try.Wondering what the problem is?

Such problems are difficult to diagnose and the few things that you need to pay attention to are :

1. Alternator. Get the charging tested. Since you had to replace the battery, it could be a charging fault and when battery gets drained, it would fail. With a new battery, if the charging rate is no good, it would fail soon.

2. Fuel system. It could be a failing fuelp pump, relay or its wiring circuit.

3. Ignition switch. A failing ignition swich can cause intermittent stalling and non starting.
