I have a '97 Grand Cherokee Laredo. The other day I gunned after someone turned abruptly. After that I had a sputtering problem. It didn't shut off and still runs and starts fine but still has the problem. I thought it was the filter but reading some of these forums I was unlucky in finding out that this Jeep has no filter. It has a regulator attached to the pump. Is this true? And is there another possibility that is easier and less time and cost consuming?

Check for applicable trouble codes, if you haven't already? You should be able to get mil codes by cycling the ignition switch. Cycle the key, on--off, on--off, on, no crank. The mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes. Your looking for two digit codes. A tune-up is a manitenance issue, has it been a long time?
