Did you check the fuel pressure after you've installed the fuel pump. If it has an auto shut down relay inspect and test it.

When you 1st turn key to On -do you hear the fuel pump for a few secs ?

What was the fuel pressure reading and does it has an injection pulses in order for the cylinders to receive fuel.

The engine will fire-up by itself and continue to run without a transmission
