My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo inline 6 4x4 runs perfectly fine until sometimes it cranks but doesn't start. The only way we can get it started again, is to disconnect the positive terminal from the battery. (I'm not sure if this is related but I have a system hooked up and now I hear more feedback since this problem started happening)

It may be the security is screwing up which is kind of unusual like that. try a reset and then have a mechanic scan for codes it could be a crank sensor connection as well. also if it is a 4.0l they seem to wear the wiring harness at rear stud of head and cause similar problems which if that is the case then it needs fixing there and rerouting.
