I have a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport 4.0l with 100k on it. My question is that when the driver's door is open all the way, all the electrical in the car cuts out, including dome light, radio, etc. And then occasionally the switches for the power windows and door locks dont work at all of the other doors. they still work at the drivers door but not elsewhere. Then you open the door again and magically they all start working again until the next time the door is opened and closed, or it might skip a time.

It seems to me that there is a broken wire? in the door, or something rubbed through and shorting occasionally?

Any ideas? Does all the car electric run through the door? I could see the other doors not working for the switches because of the main control panel in the drivers door but not the radio, dome light, rear defroster etc not working as well.

Any suggestions are appreciated so when i pull the door apart and start searching this out i have a clue what to look for.

Thanks,
John

All those things you listed pass through the driver's side kick panel. There are two body connectors there. One runs to the passenger side door, the other runs to the rear hatch and rear dome light. I would check there first. It only has a couple screws holding it on.

Let us know if you figured it out.

Some feedback would be cool.
