1996 Jeep Cherokee driver's door

I have the inside panel off of my jeep driver's door removed, and it still will not open, what might be the problem? Seems like it might be the lock. How can I remove the door?

Has the linkage come apart?

The linkage seems to be connected- the guts connect when the handle is pulled. If the lock were broken, would it prevent the door from opening?

I would think the lock could do it. Do you have any way to access the actuall latch?

I can manually pull the latch- it still won't open the door. I can hear the connection catching, though.
