Ok, first take a screwdriver and push the door button or lever *what you use to open the door* while pushing the button or lever use the screwdriver to pull it up, if it wont come up push it down further then try to pull it up.

Blackop you saved my arse! Do all cars do this or is it this model Jeep? I flipped the driver's side latch and then went to the passenger side door to see how it operates and ended up flipping it so neither door would shut! I could have driven it to a shop holding the driver's door shut but not both doors. God bless google and thanks for your help 14 years later.

Hey RBellon,

It is always great so see someone finding a solution long after it was provided.
This trick will generally work on these older vehicles with that type of latch. These tend to get stuck and sometimes using some lubricants can help.

I have attached diagrams for anyone might be looking for little more info.

Let us know of any questions.
Thank you.
