Engine Performance problem
2000 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

I have replaced my timing belt on my 2000 civic EX making sure to line up the marking on the crank and cam gears. I started the vehicle and let it warm up. I also used a jumper wire make the bypass. Using a timing light I noticed that if I advance the distributer as far as it will go my timing is on about TDC, not the 16 degrees advance as needed. I went back in and advanced the cam one notch. Now my timing is about 20 degrees advanced with the distributer retarded all the way. How do I get the vehicle to 16 degrees advanced.

Hi mb5327,

Thank you for the donation.

The timing belt has been installed off by a tooth. Did you install it as per diagram markings?
