1999 Honda Civic 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 111k miles

I recently bought a 99 Civic Si with 111k miles on it. No problems to my knowledge with the car. Yesterday I took it out for a drive and when I stopped by my office. Upon restarting the car, it was really hard to get into first and grinded the gear felt like the engine was shaking violently. It also did the same when put into reverse. The other gears were hard to shift into but didnt seem to cause the shaking action of that of first and reverse. I'm going to look more into the matter but not really sure what this could be. I've speculated bad master/slave cylinder but these seem to be unlikely due to the way it shakes when fully engaged. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

I've seen bad clutches cause something similar to what you are describing. But you will have to be more specific with this shaking issue you are having.

Checking the slave cylinder, master and the hydraulic system for air would be my first start.
