Acceleration problems

My car is having problems accelerating. It is a manual transmission. When my car was working properly I would press the pedal half way and it would easily get up to speed. Now I have to floor it and it barely gets up to speed. Also it has a slight problem keeping idle. It also stalls easier. What is wrong with my car?

Are you losing any coolant from the system? Have you had a compression check done? I am thinking head or head gasket.

No. Its not running hot at all. No I havent had compression check. After using my car a little more I realized that it is idling ok and it doesn't stall but it is having trouble accelerating and getting up to speed. The other day I was going into town on the highway and I floored it for about a mile and my top speed was 65. It was shaking abnormally too. I don't know if that has anything to do with my acceleeration problem or not. Do you think it could be the fuel pump?

Check the plugs to see if they are fouling. I would suspect that you fuel efficiency has been poor. Have you checked the timing? If the plugs seem wet and or black sooty you are getting plenty of fuel but not getting the spark properly timed or even the possibility of not a good spark being present. So check the plugs. Wires on the plugs are very critical.
