Hi, today my vehicle's engine shut off without warning. Only battery light and oil light was turned on. Radio was working also. Then I started and she started good.

Good morning.

Does it start right back up or do you have to wait a period of time?

Is the check engine light on while driving?

Okay, thanks. The lights are normal when the engine is not running and the key on.

Possible causes are:

1. Crankshaft position sensor. This is common but needs to be checked with a scan tool.
2. Throttle body. If the plate is dirty and full of carbon it will cause this. You need to clean the plate with throttle body cleaner to remove the carbon build up.
3 EGR valve. If the valve does not close quick enough, it will remain open and cause a massive vacuum leak and make the engine stall. This can be monitored with a scan tool as well.

Has anyone looked at this yet?

Okay, you need a tester for this test. if you do not have one, you can rent one at a parts store.

Did the issue happen to your tech? He needs to make it happen and see what happens when it cuts out.

What else has he done. Forget about the codes. That will tell him nothing at this point. He needs to recreate the issue.

Okay, you will need to wait until the issue happens again to track it down. Right now, you cannot fix something that is not broke.

Did you get the throttle body cleaned?
