My truck jumps out of 3rd gear when truck is decellerating. While accelerating every thing seems fine, but if you happen to be in 3rd gear and start decelerating it jumps out. Do you know what can cause this and what to expect as repair cost or can I maybe do it myself. Thank you, Steve

It's most likely the synchronizers in the transmission. Mine has jumped out of 5th since it was new.

I changed out the synchromesh fluid for gear oil(don't do it) and it quit,
the reason I said don't do it is because it will make a god awful squeeling noise in the winter. The gear oil is too thick.

I now run 30wt motor oil in mine and it doesn't come out nearly as often or easy.
