I have been having some of and on problems with my truck starting. The other day it wouldn't crank so I hooked up a battery charger to the jump off setting and got it running. Today it is doing the same thing. I tried the charger jump, and nothing, when I tried to put a rapid charge the battery started to over flow with acid. Needless to say I stopped that. I tested the alternator the other day and all was good, so I am assuming that the cables are bad. Am I right?

Looks like a sulfated battery a cell has filled with material from the plates and has shorted the cell. So if you jump on the terminals it will not start. Then when you charged the cell erupted.
Get a battery check cables ohm meter or visual if O.E.M. Replace.
Then check charging system to be sure all is well.
Hope this helps
