Im looking into buying a 1994 S-10 but the guy says it has a locked up rear brake and says he tried freeing it by towing it and said that didnt work. I was wondering if you have any other suggestions for freeing it up I believe its drums in the back but I havent had any time to look at the truck

Don't always believe what a person tells you that is trying to sell a truck. It could be a brake or it could be a rear end or any part of the drive line. Let a pro look at it.

Ok dually noted, now just the benefit of the doubt. If it was just seized how would I go about it, also is there also a fool proof way to determine that it would a bad rearend and not just a lock up

You know, if he wants to sell the truck that bad he would get the drum off for you and let you check things out from there. If you want to take it off yourself adjust brakes all the way in and take a hammer, beat drum some and see if you can loosen it up so you can get it to slip off. Once you get the drum off pick up rear end of truck and see if wheels will turn then. If not the rear end is probably locked up and you should look elsewhere. Just my opinion but if he told me that I would have to wonder about the rest of the truck. Good luck and don't get stuck!
