I took my 1990 GMC Jimmy 8000 Ft above sea level. It really did nto like that. Now it shutters constantly and smells of gas. Sometimes it seems that it is not taking in the gas well. Did I mess up my fuel pump?

Check your EGR valve. If I remember correctly, you will have an Electronic EGR. Not cheap to replace, have a mechanic check it out.

Regards.

On second thought. That year may not have the Electronic EGR. But check. If you do, it could be that. I had a'93 that was shuttering and stuff. Would sound like it was bogging out.

Had to replace the Electronic EGR Valve.

Regards.

Summer,
Black on your tailpipe. Hmm. Does it come off like soot?
Could be carbon. Did you check into the EGR valve.
I know when I had my truck, and removed the Electronic EGR valve it was covered in soot like crud. My tail pipe was the same way.

Let me know how you make out.
