Why does my 1987 ford tempo stall while driving and I have to leave it set for a very short time and it starts again. And sometimes it will turn over but not start?

Sounds like you are losing spark or fuel pressure. Most likely spark?Tempo's are notorious for finicky coil wires. Take coil wire off and inspect metal connectors in end boots!Look for corrosion. If old, replace anyway they're cheap! Also ignition module or fuel pump can act up when heated to engine temp. If coil wire has been going bad(to much resistance) for a while, it can ruin(short out) ignition coil! With todays high prices on most parts I usually get my stuff form scrap yard.
