My 1995 Ford Taurus GL 3.8L with 194568 miles, drove to daughters school in AM just fine, but when leaving will not shift from first gear into any other forward gear. Shifts reverse and back just fine, checked fluid OK, inspected all wires and cables to tranny all appeared connected and clean. Checked previous owner, the tranny was rebuilt before at un-known mileage. Please help with any suggestions.
Thank You

Is this a column shift? If so the bushings in the column could be worn and causing the shifter to be out of adjustment. I agree with the check of the PCM first. Some tranny shops will do a free PCM test to get your business.
