I have a 99 Ford Taurus, V6 3.0ltr. It has been having a problem during the summer months for the past year now that I would start the car up fine, drive for about 20 minutes, turn the engine off. When I go to restart the car, it would sputter and die as if out of gas. It has gotten progressively worse this past summer. It ran fine during the winter months. A friend looked at the car, checked the fuel pump which was fine. Ran the codes and they thought it was Intake manifold runner control. The motor in the IMRC tended to stop when the car heated up enough. Now for the past couple weeks, I have not been able to get the car to start at all, the engine turns over, but thats it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I changed the spark plugs yesterday, and the car has started up a few times today so im hoping that was part of the problem. My friend had dropped the gas tank about five months ago, and had said one of the electrical lines on the gas pump had frayed, but that the pump was still in decent shape. He fixed the line and left the original pump in there. Im not sure what the code was that kept coming up at this point. They had managed to clear all the codes except one. The IMRC also gets very hot to the touch when the car is in idle for awhile. In 70 degree weather, I normally can drive it about 20 minutes before I shut the engine off, try to restart it and the engine putters and dies.
