Shakes or Wobbles problem
2002 Ford Taurus Front Wheel Drive Automatic

My car is stuttering when idle and when it is being driven. On Sunday morning it went as far as to shut off. It did come back on after a bit but with effort. We have given it a tune up and replaced injectors. It is still stuttering. We took it somewhere to be diagnosed only to be charged for an hour of labor which only took 10 minutes at the most. Can you tell me what is going on with my car?

Do you have a check engine light and when was the last tune-up?

Probable causes:

Dirty fuel injectors (cleaning the injectors often fixes this).
Bad MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor
Bad TPS (throttle position) sensor
Bad or dirty MAF (mass airflow) sensor
Low fuel pressure (leaky fuel pressure regulator or weak fuel pump)
Vacuum leaks (intake manifold, vacuum hoses, throttle body, EGR valve)
Bad gasoline (fuel contaminated with water or too much alcohol)

Sometimes, what feels like a hesitation is actually ignition misfire rather than lean misfire. The causes of ignition misfire may include:

Dirty or worn spark plugs
Bad plug wires
Weak ignition coil
Wet plug wires

Yes the check engine light comes on and it blinks after a few minutes of me driving the car. I just had the spark plugs and wires replaced last week.

Scan the computer for OBD2 code/s and comeback with the codes this is the starting point to find out what's going with the engine management system.

Fuel rail pressure sensor circuit high input - Code P0193 -Try replacing the fuel rail sensor

P0303-Misfire at cyl no.3 check sparkplug/compression/injector in this cyl.

P0316 means a misfire was detected on start up-could be a coil/ injector problem causing the dead misfire.
