Our 1997 Ford Taurus (144,000 miles) must have a short somewhere but we can't figure out where. The "door ajar" indicator light won't go off no matter how many times or how securely we shut the driver side front door (the only one that seems to be involved). The two interior lights (dome and map) also stay on all the time now, since the car seems to think the door is always open. We can't find the sensor on the driver side front door to see what the problem is. All we've been able to do at this point is remove the two interior bulbs so they don't get too hot. Any suggestions?

Need to lube the door latchs with a thin lube like wd 40, clean it first with brake clean. Open and shut many times while lubing them.
